With the Subud World Congress coming in Summer 2018, we have decided to combine our California Regional Gathering with the National Congress this year. The joint event will take place in Vancouver, Washington, on May 25-28, 2018, which is Memorial Day weekend. The focus of our Regional Gathering will be spiritual (yippee!). So, mark your calendars, and start rallying your friends and making your travel plans.
Our team looked at many California venues for a combined event, but couldn’t beat the value offered by the Vancouver Hilton. It is near the Portland, OR airport and walking distance from a lovely park, local shops and the Columbia River. The room rates are very economical and the hotel has the meeting room capacity for a combined event. Subud USA has made arrangements with the hotel for those who will be observing the Ramadan fast during the event.
In case we haven’t met, let me introduce myself. I live in Berkeley with my husband, Jeff, and children, Tristan (7) and Cole (5). I am a Professor of Public Policy at U.C. Berkeley. I was born into Subud and have always deeply appreciated having the Latihan in my life. Some of my best and lifelong friends are in Subud. This legacy continues with my children who absolutely love going to congresses to reconnect with their old friends, many of whom they consider to be cousins.
We very much appreciate all the feedback we received from our member survey last fall, which indicated strong interest in a combined event Regional/National event for 2018. Stay tuned for information about registration, which will be available soon.
