Regional Helpers on the Go!

Submitted by Hani’a Abram

Warm greetings from the regional helpers. We’ve had a few changes in our dewan that you should know about. Marcella had to step down from her role as she moved to the East Coast to help out and care for a family member. We miss her dearly and are grateful that the place left open by her departure was soon filled by Rasjidah Franklin who is warmly received by us all.

As of late, there have been several Kejiwaan days held by local groups in the region, and the participating regional helpers agree that time together at kejiwaan gatherings are enriching in so many ways, as Helena remarks,

“When we are able to give the time for these gatherings, it seems that there are always gifts for us, our hearts open wider, our connections with each other deepen and often there are unexpected blessings. These times together are a reminder of the importance of Subud in our lives …how it helps our spirits thrive.”

Kejiwaan days are one of the ways for our Subud community and our spiritual practice to be healthy and strong and growing, and we, your regional helpers, are dedicated to serving, and eager to be a supporting part of these important gatherings.

The next kejiwaan day is in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 28th. All are welcome, of course! There will be testing led by the regional helpers following latihan, and in the evening a Bapak video followed up with more testing. Additional details are HERE.

On Saturday, April 4th, the regional helper team will be supporting the Sacramento and Walnut Creek centers for a local gathering focused specifically on exploring the theme “the inner journey of aging”. This is a trial run and, if the theme seems to work well, Sacramento may host another event for a wider audience.

We regional helpers welcome an invitation to visit your group, and/or to plan a kejiwaan day in your area. Please feel free to contact us as soon as possible so that we can coordinate our calendars. (It is quite a logistical challenge when visiting dates are too close together, the California Region is a lot of ground to cover!). You can find the California Region’s event calendar HERE.

Warmest regards,

Helena, Renata, Owen, Harlan, Rasjidah, Leo, and Hani’a!
