Revitalizing our Centers: from World Congress to California

During the World Congress in Mexico, I joined one of the delegate meetings and had the good fortune to participate in two of a three-part workshop series called Revitalizing our Centers. Harris Wolfgang, Liza Ramey and Oswald Norton led the delegates in workshops designed to flesh out the core issues faced by each of our centers from around the world.

I was so impressed with the process I brought the workshop concept to our Regional Congress in Joshua Tree and shared it first with the Council and then again with the membership. We broke into groups to brainstorm on our common goals and then came back together to discuss corresponding action plans so that we can all start to envision the future of Subud California.  These are the results:

Session One (Councilors for the region)

GOALS

  • Educate members
  • Create greater transparency
  • Re-attract inactive members
  • Create regional guidelines to attract new members
  • Create space to deepen our spiritual growth
  • Allow ourselves to be more fluid/ flexible about real estate
  • Honor/ re-evaluate our changing needs
  • Let go of the past
  • Be a resource for centers
  • Create new revenue streams for centers
  • Set parameters for regional intervention
  • Facilitate/ foster consensus on important principles
  • Create better relationship between centers/region
