The successful revitalization of the Subud Centers in Sebastopol and San Diego has very much highlighted the importance of strong connections across our centers and groups. The Regional Helpers are one vital connection, through their visits and spiritual support for all helpers and members. The Regional Council is another connection point, enabling centers to draw on the expertise of other Subud members and to apply for financial support from the region when needed for major building repairs.
In order to have sufficient funding to support Regional Helper travel to local groups and to maintain a pool of funds to support Subud houses, as well as perform our region’s administrative responsibilities, the Regional Council has put forth this challenge: a 25% increase in each center’s pledge to Subud California in 2015.
While many members already give generously, some may not be aware of the importance of giving to their center or group. Just as helpers need to interact with members to support their participation in the latihan, committee members need to interact to convey the material needs of the center and of the region. The end result of both kinds of outreach is to strengthen connections at the member, center and regional levels, and develop resources for spiritual and material needs across the region.
As announced in the November newsletter, this initiative is now underway at many centers. Please participate in this initiative by contributing to your center at whatever level you can afford. Or, unaffiliated members can contribute directly to Subud California by setting up a regular pledge via paypal. Whatever the size or form of contribution, it will help Subud California to continue offering vital support across the region.
