Jeff Blackburn, of the Santa Cruz Subud Center, passed away in January. Here is an excerpt of an article published in Neil Young News:
“Guitarist and songwriter Jeffrey Reid “Jeff” Blackburn died January 5, aged 77. Blackburn started out in California in the early 1960s as part of folk duo Blackburn & Snow, who released a few singles, and later played in San Francisco-based psychedelic rock band Moby Grape”, with whose bassist Bob Mosley he then founded the “Jeff Blackburn Band in Santa Cruz.
In the summer of 1977, Neil Young, a friend of Blackburn’s Buffalo Springfield days, joined his band, which also added Johnny Craviotto on drums. The formation changed their name to “The Ducks” and played almost two dozen gigs in local clubs around Santa Cruz from July to September.”

I was deeply saddened learn that Buck is no longer with us!
I’m a relic of the counterculture and used to hang out
with him and get into trouble… About a decade ago we had
planned to get together while, as he said “we’re still young…”
Now he’s gone… A reminder for my generation who were part
of the “fabric” of the Bay Area music scene and the culture,
(and I guess in general) that if you want to connect with friends
and loved ones, don’t delay. The clock is ticking!
I was friends with Jeff and knew his mom and brother Michael. So sad Jeff has passed. Does anyone know where Michael is? He has been missed also by many people. I have a picture of myself wearing the “Ducks” t-shirt! Jeff played music with my daughters father, Victor Phillips.
How odd this is on Subud! I use to go there occasionally. Anyway, Jeff’s life and mine merged many times in my life! RIP.
