MONTAGE (1.15) ICONIC HOLLYWOOD IMAGES TO THE STIRRING SOUNDTRACK “THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT”
OPENING (1.55) Halimah Collingwood, who planned the entertainment and recruited the talent, welcomes us. “Subud brothers and sisters are here from every Region in the United States tonight, even from out of the country! There are people here from Argentina, from Canada, from Australia. We dunno… somebody must have let them in!”
ACT I (3.0) Lilianna and Anthony Parker perform a beautiful cover of the poignant 1972 Jim Croce ballad, ‘If I Could Save Time in a Bottle’, in a music video that captures the beauty of courtship, the joys of married life, and delight in parenting their son.
ACT II (7.45) Denise Jackson regales us with her ‘tail’ of Georges the Cat, and how to handle a household menagerie full of involuntary guests.
ACT III (15.40) Halimah Collingwood and Elizabeth Trudell harmonize remotely on a beautiful duet of ‘You’re Just in Love’. And who wouldn’t be in love with this duo of Subud ladies!
ACT IV (18.20) Henrietta Haines tells a true story from 1989. It involves Henrietta’s long-time friend, Lucilla Warren, the Mojave Desert, and a cafe in Paris. It is a wisdom tale.
ACT V (24.0) Lusana Erekson tells us a moving story about her prayer to become a soul singer and how she was guided to perform with a band called ‘Inner Vision’. Lusana illuminates her story with her haunting recording of the much-loved jazz standard (and Ella Fitzgerald’s favorite song), “Angel Eyes”.
ACT VI (32.30) David Zasloff convulses the audience with hilariously incisive observations about life, marriage, children, religion, music, and other subjects. But you’ve heard nothing until you’ve heard David play “Jingle Bells” on the shofar!
ACT VII (49.0) Howard Richman (pianist) and Cherie Valaray (soprano) perform two exquisite songs, for which Howard wrote the music. The second song, ‘It’s Always Been You and Me’, is a touching love song with lyrics by Helen Richman, for her husband of almost seventy years, Subud member and famous actor, Peter Mark Richman.
ACT VIII (56.0) Leanna Harrison and Harvey Carlock present “Jokes On You”, an hilarious comedy sketch by ‘Lea the Diva and Harv’ about Subud love and marriage in the time of COVID. This show’s going on the road!
ACT IX (1.04.20)
Michael Cooke inspires us with an affecting spoken memoir, illuminating the moment a man becomes aware of the authentic, self-effacing nature and true nobility, of his father’s character.
ACT X
(1.10.0)
Harlan Gleeson ruefully -and gleefully- recalls a Gleeson family adventure with eight house guests. “Another family?! A whole family? Six kids?!” You have to know where this is headed…!!
ACT XI (1.18.0.) Emmanuel Williams as Pan in the forest by the burbling brook. Can you guess the answer?
ACT XII (1.24.0) Laksar Reese delights the audience and closes the show with flowing improvisations on the Ella Fitzgerald classic, “Misty”. It definitely has been an evening of tribute to Ella!
